Cars in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were alerted by a resident who found a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then found multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.

A senior official stated the vandalism made him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
